Waste water plant hits a sewage snag

     The Hampton City Council discussed the city's economic future while managing current projects during their regular meeting on Thursday, July 28.
     Franklin County Economic Development Association director Karen Mitchell was present at the meeting to update the council about recent developments in the area, starting with the announcement of Alliant Energy's new investment in Iowan wind energy.
     Alliant's new wind project will invest $1 billion over five years, generating construction jobs and increasing property values wherever they build additional turbines. While the project promises huge economic boosts, Mitchell warned the council against getting too excited as the economic benefits will likely be rolled out over an extended period of time.
     "This is going to be a long process," said Mitchell. "That's way down the road. Right now we're just pleased that Alliant is getting back in the game."
