PARKERSBURG – Tossing its record and the fact that it was unranked aside, the Janesville boys’ basketball team shocked Class 1A top-ranked West Fork 53-50 in the district final at Parkersburg on Thursday, Feb. 25.
Starting out hot and taking a 15-point halftime lead, the Panthers (21-3) found a way to hold off a hard-charging Warhawk squad that was undefeated going into the game.
“I think (the start) was huge,” Janesville coach Travis Temple said. “Being able to get the lid off of the basket early in the game first possession, getting a couple of rebounds early, stops and scores helps tremendously with our momentum and we gained a lot tonight.”
