Warhawk boys claim TIC East, girls runner-up overall in inaugural meet

MASON CITY – Battling through pain, Jacob Hansen toughed it out to win the Top of Iowa East Division individual cross country title on the NIACC campus on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Hansen, a junior, was the fifth runner to cross the finish line behind four from overall team champion Garner-Hayfield/Ventura.
After two miles into the race, Hansen could be seen grabbing at his back. He said afterward he started experiencing back spasms that bothered him a little in 2014.
“Last year at this time at Eagle Grove I had it (before),” Hansen said. “I ended up dropping out of that race. I ended up racing conference last year and not doing too bad..."
