As part of his “Back to our Roots” RV Tour, United States Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue stopped by Sukup Manufacturing in Sheffield on August 5 to tour the industrial complex before making his way to Des Moines to be the keynote speaker at the Iowa Ag Summit.
Perdue, the former governor of Georgia, spoke with ownership and stopped to speak with employees to voice his support of the manufacturing plant, and his larger commitment to agriculture.
“This is what embodies American Ag to me,” Perdue said. “It’s not just farm and ag producers, but the creativity and entrepreneurship here. It’s truly the American spirit.”
At the end of his tour, Perdue stopped briefly to answer questions from The Sheffield Press.
