The top sports stories of 2016

The year 2016 brought its biggest stories in the form of major milestones. From 1,000-point career scorers -– three area players do so – to coaching wins: boys West Fork basketball coaches earned them. It was a great year in the Hampton area.
 
1. Early in 2016, H-D senior basketball players Jessica Speake and Jordan Prantner both reach the 1,000-point career scoring mark, becoming the eighth and ninth girls in school history to do so. Later on, Speake broke the school record for assists. The girls basketball team lost in the regional final, the game to go to state, for the third straight year in 2016.
