Thank a volunteer at the fair this week

It’s fair week!
The Franklin County Fair kicked off yesterday with the ever-popular parade and continues today through Sunday with a bevvy of events. Grandstand concerts, free entertainment, games, rides and animals galore will pack the grounds for fairgoers to enjoy throughout the week.
The Franklin County Fair has become one of the premier county fairs in the state because of the amount of activities it offers for guests.
The magnitude of the fair, however, could not be done without countless volunteers and sponsors. Tireless work and uncountable time and money go into making the fair a free event for all and the grandstand attractions affordable for fans of all ages. It’s hard to walk around the fairgrounds without bumping into someone who has sacrificed their day – or days - to walk the grounds or tend a booth for the name of adding just a little bit more to an already action-packed fair. Keep in mind that temperatures will reach dangerous highs in the next couple days and many of those volunteers have friends and family visiting for the fair.
Franklin County has a reputation of go-getters and people who will jump into action for the betterment of the community and the fair is a shining example of the attitude. It’s also a testament to the Franklin County Fair Board and fairground employees who work year round to make sure the fair continues its reputation as “can’t miss.”
If you’re a diehard fair fan and never miss the Franklin County Fair, make sure to thank those involved when possible. And if you’ve never been to the fair or don’t go often and are able, spend a few hours seeing the sights and catch a show or two. We all need to appreciate the efforts of those involved that work each year to make sure the fair is as good as it can be because without them, it wouldn’t be possible. The best way to show thanks is to simply show up and have fun.
