Technology changes and building improvements will greet students at West Fork next week

     Increased student access to technology will be the main focus of the West Fork Community School District when doors open for the new school year August 19-20.

     West Fork’s seventh and eighth grades will become one-to-one classrooms this fall. All students in those grades are scheduled to receive an Apple iPad once school starts to assist with coursework and technology skill development. Five iPads were also added to each elementary classroom to create an in-room tech center. According to superintendent Darrin Strike, the devices will help students break down information and visualize examples more clearly.

     “We could have had a mobile cart with all the elementary’s iPads on it, but we wanted the devices in the hands of the students on a daily basis,” explained Strike. “We no longer want kids to memorize redundant facts – we want to shift instruction to where the kids are the creators.”
