Supervisors discuss rural Latimer drainage issue

A plugged drainage tile north of Latimer forced the involvement of the Franklin County Board of Supervisors at its meeting Monday morning.

     Kevin and Carol Borcherding met with the supervisors to inform them about a malfunctioning tile located in a ditch near one of their fields. Tree roots have become entangled inside the tile, which lies in the drainage district. The Borcherdings have been unable to plant the field this year due to excess flooding issues caused by the plugged tile.

            “We’re just a little bit frustrated that we’re dealing with the same problem we thought had been taken care of,” said Kevin Borcherding.
