When Izabela Victoria Siems was chosen to be one of five senior girls for the Hampton-Dumont Homecoming Court, she was surprised that she was considered over the many scholars and athletes she felt more qualified than her.
When she was later voted H-D Homecoming Queen, she was stunned.
“Honestly, that was even more shocking because I knew the girls on the court well, and they all seemed so great and I was just shocked out of all those girls…” Siems said.
And now, Siems is one of six girls heading to the 37 Annual Homecoming Queen Pageant in West Des Moines, where the winner will take home a cash scholarship.
The pageant is part of a larger pageant circuit, America’s Homecoming Queen, in which home coming queen’s crowned from each state will compete for a national title. While most pageants allow repeat attendees, the homecoming queen pageant invites new girls, every year, meaning there is no return advantage.
