Shirley Dass, 85

Shirley Dass, 85, of Hampton, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at her home in Hampton. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. before the service. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. 

Shirley Mae Dass was born on November 9, 1937 in Iowa Falls, Iowa to John and Leona (Chaplain) Dass. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1955. Shirley worked as a CNA for over 25 years for Hampton Healthcare Center and she also sold Avon for over 50 years. Shirley enjoyed travelling and had visited over nine different countries. She enjoyed collecting old tins, cookbooks, and Coca Cola merchandise. She also enjoyed working outside with her flowers and in her garden where she grew tomatoes, lettuce, asparagus, and rhubarb.

Shirley is survived by her brother Kenneth (Maxine) Dass of Ankeny, nieces and nephews Cindy (Mark) Hudson of Rogers, Minnesota, Vicki (Gary) Spellerberg of Manchester, Iowa, Michael (Janice) Dass of Polk City, Iowa, and Craig (Donanne) Dass of Humble, Texas as well as seven great nieces and nephews Aaron (Jackie) Dass of Conroe, Texas, Brody (Kylie) Dass of West Des Moines, Iowa, Conor Dass of Omaha, Nebraska, Kristen (Zach) Bramble of Hastings, Nebraska, Kelly (Spencer Nord) Hudson of Maple Grove, Minnesota and Alyssa Dass of Humble, Texas. Great great-nieces and nephews include Avery, Hayden, Roman, Asher, Collins, and Palmer Bramble and Andi Dass.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her partner Chris Van Dyke, and her beloved dog Magnum.
