Sheryl was born September 13, 1966, in Hampton, Iowa, to Charles and Lois (Harken) Schulz who instilled in her the values of kindness, compassion, and family. From a young age, she radiated warmth and affection, always putting others’ needs before her own. As she grew into adulthood, these qualities would shape her role as a loving wife, mother, aunt, and sister.

Sheryl graduated from Ackley-Geneva High School, class of 1985. She then graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City. Sheryl worked as an insurance agent for Jaspersen Insurance for nearly 24 years. She was a member of the Hampton Jaycees for many years, assisting with the Fourth of July fireworks and coordinating many fundraisers for the Friends of Beeds Lake. Sheryl and her family also coached a softball team in Mason City for the Special Olympics.

Sheryl found her soulmate and was united in marriage to Robert James Dannen on December 6, 1997, at the Geneva United Methodist Church. Their love story was one filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering support for each other. Together, they built a strong and loving foundation, facing life’s challenges and celebrating its triumphs. Their marriage was a testament to the power of love and commitment.

Sheryl’s greatest joy in life was being a mother to her children, Ryan and Megan. She poured her heart and soul into raising them, imparting her values of love, kindness, and resilience. Her unconditional love and unwavering support were always present, guiding Ryan and Megan throughout their lives. Sheryl’s love extended beyond her immediate family, and she cherished her role as an aunt, bringing joy and happiness to her nieces and nephew.

Sheryl Dannen not only found joy in being a loving wife, mother, and aunt, but she also played a unique role as a “crew chief” for her husband Robert and son Ryan in their Figure 8 racing endeavors. With a passion for the sport, Sheryl dedicated herself to supporting and guiding her loved ones on the racetrack. Her unwavering commitment and enthusiasm as a “crew chief” demonstrated her unwavering support and love for Robert and Ryan. Sheryl’s presence and encouragement on race days created a bond and shared excitement that will forever be cherished by her family.

Beyond her family, Sheryl was a devoted sister and friend. Her warm smile and infectious laughter could light up any room, and her caring nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a special way of making everyone feel loved and valued, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

As we mourn the loss of Sheryl Dannen, we find solace in the memories of her love, kindness, and unwavering spirit. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
