A downtown Hampton restaurant has garnered statewide recognition for its attention to handmade food, drinks and friendly atmosphere.
Last week, Travel Iowa, the official tourism website for the State of Iowa, named Rustic Brew as the Franklin County representative on its "99 Counties, 99 Restaurants" list.
About Rustic Brew, Travel Iowa said the coffee shop/brew pub is a "one-of-a-kind experience" that features fresh-roasted coffee, craft beer, wine, soup, sandwiches and salads.
"Rustic Brew is as fun as it is unique," said the entry.
The recognition came as a complete surprise to co-owners Kathy and Joel Heuer, who opened Rustic Brew with Kim and Brad Mulford in January of 2013. They re-ceived no mention from Travel Iowa before the list was published and aren't sure when representatives from the website visited.
