Rodemeyer charged with four counts of sexual abuse

Michael Lynn Rodemeyer Sr., 71, Hampton, was arrested on April 20, 2017, after a weeklong investigation into reports of alleged sexual abuse of a minor, spanning three years.
Rodemeyer faces four counts of sexual abuse: two counts of sexual abuse in the second degree by the Hampton Police Department, and one count of sexual abuse in the second degree and one count of sexual abuse in the third degree by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Sexual abuse in the second degree is a Class B felony, while sexual abuse in the third degree is a Class C felony.
According to Iowa court documents the alleged incidents began on or about June 1, 2014, and continued through on or about April 1, 2015, on or about June 1, 2015 and on or about February 1, 2017.
Rodemeyer is being held on a $200,000 bond, and could face up to 85 years in prison. The Iowa Department of Human Service and the Child Protection Center assisted both the Hampton Police and the Franklin County Sheriff in the investigation. An arraignment is set for the first week of May. He is currently being held at Hardin County jail.
