Rockford press bothers H-D girls, but Bulldogs pull out victory

HAMPTON – Needing a challenge, Hampton-Dumont rose to the occasion when No. 15 (Class 1A) Rockford came to town and pressed the Bulldogs on Thursday, Jan. 9.

H-D, which moved up to No. 12 in Class 3A, were forced into 10 second half turnovers as what looked like it could have been a runaway game early turned into a close contest in the 69-58 victory.

“That was good for us,” H-D coach Chad Johnson said. “We needed that – we haven’t seen much of that lately. It was good for us to see that pressure. I thought our guards for the most part did a really nice job of handling the ball...."
