Though he recently announced that 2016 will be his final year in law enforcement, Franklin County Sheriff Larry Richtsmeier isn’t ready to kick back and relax quite yet.
“I’ve still got a lot of things that need to get done before I’m finished here,” he said. “I’ll stay plenty busy.”
Richtsmeier announced last month he will not seek re-election this fall. The four-term sheriff said it was a “Christmas present” to his wife and family, who endured many years apart from their husband and father as he worked cases and other investigations.
“My family has gotten the short end of my time since the Eighties,” he said. “I decided that it’s time to be done.”
