Richard was born October 7, 1930, in Dumont, son of Frank E. and Lela P. (Truax) Eisentrager. He graduated from Dumont High School, class of 1949. Richard was united in marriage to Esther Reiter on February 22, 1957, in Hampton.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Richard was a lifelong farmer and had a farming partnership with his brother, Dale. He lived his entire life on his farm and loved being a steward of the land as his family had for over a century; being a century farm was a proud accomplishment for Richard.

He was a member of the Dumont American Legion and New Hope United Methodist Church in Dumont.  Richard spent many years of his life collecting his Oliver Tractors, spending time with his beloved family, and enjoyed nothing more then becoming a grandpa. Richard never met a stranger and could find a new friend no matter how far from home he was. A perfect start to the day was a cup of coffee shared with friends and he never turned down a donut or a piece of pecan pie.

Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Esther Eisentrager of Dumont; daughter Rita Eisentrager of Sioux City; son Roger (Julie) Eisentrager of Lenexa, Kansas; grandchildren Tiffany Allen, Conner Eisentrager, Zachary Eisentrager and Haylee Eisentrager; great grandson Oliver Bailey; sister-in-law Sidney Reiter and brother-in-law Alvin (Betty) Reiter; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rhonda Allen, siblings Lucille Cassmann, Dorothy Bruns, Phyllis Harms, Beverly Folken, Sharon Eilers, Glen Eisentrager, Earl Eisentrager and Dale Eisentrager; along with many other extended family.
