Putting it away: AGWSR’s Meinders wins shot put on final attempt

DES MOINES – Clay Meinders of AGWSR knows his competition well.
Twice he has been defeated by Lisbon’s Keegan Tritle in the Class 1A state shot put competition.
And Meinders was facing the same situation in the finals of the Drake Relays on Thursday, April 23.
This time, however, on a rules violation by Tritle, Meinders gained the Drake Relays title for himself.
“I didn’t want it to happen this year,” Meinders said of being turned away for the shot put title.
