Plenty to be happy about at Cougar Invite

ACKLEY – Serenaded by his team with a rendition of the “Happy Birthday” song and handed a cake, AGWSR wrestling coach Chad Gerbracht capped off a day in which his Cougars finished third at their own tournament on Saturday, Jan. 16.
The only thing that might have been icing on his cake was winning it all, but Gerbracht was satisfied with the finish for that day.
“I get the opportunity to celebrate my birthday in the gym every couple of years,” Gerbracht said. “Kind of a double-winner today. That (winning) would have been fine, but I think how we finished today was good for us. We need to know where we need to be here in a couple of weeks when we see Mason City Newman down the road. If we would have won today, we would have taken it for granted...."
