Pipework to start on new wastewater plant this week

The Hampton City Council learned at its meeting Aug. 14 that preliminary pipework for the city's new wastewater treatment plant is scheduled to begin sometime this week.

Engineer Tom Madden of Yaggy Colby Associates met with the council to go over the pipework plans that will connect the old wastewater plant to the site of the new facility. The council approved a construction administration agreement with Yaggy Colby for professional engineering services during the project's construction, which allows the firm to monitor progress and advise the council if problems develop.

Work on the actual wastewater plant is scheduled to start sometime in October, Madden said. East Park will be temporarily disrupted during the preliminary stages of the project, as pipes will need to run through it to connect the new plant to existing infrastructure.
