SHEFFIELD -- Not letting an early deficit get them down, the Warhawk girls' basketball team shook off a slow start and rallied to top Class 2A No. 9 Rockford in earning their ninth straight victory on Friday, Jan. 13.
West Fork didn't lead until a three-pointer by Kaitlyn Liekweg to start the fourth quarter after a three by Kennedy Maske had tied it to end the third in an eventual 55-51 upset of the previously unbeaten Warriors.
“We have been working on that win for I don't know, three weeks now, honestly,” Senior starter Lexi Bray said. “Because we were nervous and we'd been practicing on (Rockford's Madison) McGregor and (Alyssa) Staudt because they are both really good. It was hard and tough but I'm glad we pulled it off. It was fun.”
