 German immigrant rides through Hampton on nationwide tour
 
     If you spotted a strange three-wheeled apparatus meandering through north Iowa last week, you weren’t seeing things.
     Minnesota resident Hanna Elshoff visited Franklin County on May 5 as part of her tour of America. The 72-year-old is traveling from Chatfield, Minn. to Georgia on her solar-powered tricycle raising money and awareness for multiple organizations. However, the German immigrant’s main goal is to thank World War II veterans for liberating her native country seven decades ago.
     “I don’t talk about it very much because I get emotional,” she said. “I owe it to the American people that I’m here today. The American people are very kind, and there are very few bad people.”
