HAMPTON – Hampton-Dumont must like overtime games, unfortunately, overtime doesn’t like the Bulldogs nearly as much.

Playing in their fourth overtime game of the season, H-D lost for the third time in four of those games, this time to Algona on Senior Night, 64-54, on Thursday, Feb. 13.

Coach Heath Walton’s squad has seen a grand total of six extra periods while playing two OTs against Iowa Falls-Alden and Humboldt, the last of which was the Bulldogs’ only extra-time win.

But this go-around, Algona was 17-of-22 from the free throw line in the second half and additional four minutes to sink H-D. It was 11-of-14 in overtime as Hampton-Dumont was forced to foul.

More on this story is available in the Feb. 19 print edition of the Hampton Chronicle.
