Only minor kinks remain following 911 dispatching's move to LEC

Years of hard work and extensive planning finally paid off June 25 when local 911 dispatching services moved out of the Hampton Police Department and in to the Franklin County Law Enforcement Center (LEC).

     The transition was problem free, for the most part. The dispatchers have had little trouble adjusting to their new surroundings since the move, and only a few kinks need to be worked out before the new emergency communication center is running on all cylinders.

     A fax line needs to be installed and an intercom at the entrance needs some work, but officials were happy with the relatively short to-do list.

     "Just some minor details," said Franklin County Sheriff Larry Richtsmeier. "Just small things so far, we think."
