HAMPTON – Down to an 0-2 count with two outs, Brandon Westendorf kept it simple.
The Hampton-Dumont junior took a good swing against Algona Garrigan pitcher Tyler Schnurr for what looked to be a seeing-eye single that turned into a double as he drove in a run, breaking a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning of a North Central Conference game on Monday, June 9.
It opened the game up as the Bulldogs went on to defeat the Golden Bears 8-2 and improve to 5-4 overall, 2-3 in the NCC.
“I was just looking for the pitch I was looking for,” Westendorf said, “and it was a fast ball and he gave it to me.
