North Iowa Law Enforcement: fact, fiction, and everything in between

The sight of a law enforcement officer always raises curiosity. When you see one driving around, generally two thoughts will cross your mind.
First, “Am I speeding?”
Second, “I wonder where they’re going? They must be on their way to something exciting!”
In reality, the opposite is probably true. That law enforcement vehicle likely has no particular destination at all. The officer inside is merely driving where their whims take them. Much of their time is spent on regular patrol and their random wanderings allow them to watch over the area while staying unpredictable.
“If you set a routine, that means you set a pattern,” said Franklin County Chief Deputy Linn Larson during one of his patrols.
