A collision that left two vehicles totaled occurred on the evening of Wednesday, September 7 when an SUV broadsided a Ford F350, sending the truck rolling and landing overturned in a ditch on the east side of the road.
The SUV, a 2005 Chevy Equinox, which was being driven by 17-year-old Kelvin Deleon, was heading east on Lake Drive when he ran a stop sign at the intersection with Olive Avenue.
Todd Hall, 54, a Sheffield resident and driver of the truck said, “I was just minding my own business going home, when I got drilled.”
According to the Iowa State Patrol accident report, when Deleon attempted to slow down at the intersection, his brake system failed to work properly and he could not stop, broadsiding the northbound truck.
