Nine-game schedule remains; district assignments announced for football

DES MOINES – The people spoke and the Iowa High School Athletic Association Board of Control heard.

During its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 22, the IHSAA Board agreed to stay with the nine-game football regular season format after proposing an eight-game schedule.

Also changed by the Board was the bracketing system for the football playoffs and making a 125-mile limitation for first-round games.

Also, the new district assignments were released on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Hampton-Dumont is now paired in Class 2A, District 2 with old rivals Clarion-Goldfield and Clear Lake, as well as Estherville-Lincoln Central, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura and Osage.
