Much-improved Bulldogs upend top-seed St. Ansgar in district semifinal

MANLY – Forget the fact that the Hampton-Dumont baseball team is young.
The Bulldogs grew up in a big way, avenging a 10-run rule loss to Class 2A District 4 top seed St. Ansgar to advance to the Saturday, July 16 district final against Central Springs.
Complete-game winner Caleb Chaney worked out of two straight bases-loaded jams in the fifth and sixth innings and then his offense went to work for him in the 4-1 win over the Saints at Manly on Wednesday, July 13..
“The kids played a pretty good game,” H-D coach Matt Lokenvitz said....
