HAMPTON – Hampton-Dumont sophomore Isaac Shelton decided that football wasn’t for him.

But he still wanted to keep in shape for wrestling and chose to run cross country so he’d be in shape.

The move paid off as he earned his first medal of the season on Monday, Oct. 6 at Maynes Grove in the Bulldogs’ home invitational.

“I really didn’t want to play football anymore,” Shelton said. “I kind of got burned out after it. And I thought, if I’m not going to do that, I should do cross country, because I need to stay in shape for wrestling.”
