International best-selling author Brian Freeman visited Hampton on Friday to discuss and promote his latest mystery novel, “The Cold Nowhere.”

The get-together was partially arranged by Cornerstone Cottage’s Keri Rojas, who reviewed an advanced copy of the book and was asked if she wanted to host a signing. Realizing that her shop wasn’t quite large enough for a book signing, arrangements were made to host the gathering at El Paisita Family Mexican Restaurant instead.

“This is the first time I’ve ever given remarks following a margarita, so this should be interesting,” said Freeman at the event.

Among a room full of mystery novel enthusiasts, the Minnesota-based writer recounted his story of how he broke into the publishing world, and the hardships and setbacks along the way.
