Farmers Cooperative (FC) and West Central Cooperative will become one of the largest grain companies on the continent this spring following a recent merger vote.
Co-op members approved the merger by a super majority during a month-long voting process, according to a news release. The unified company will be known as Landus Cooperative and have more than 70 grain, agronomy and feed locations throughout Iowa and Minnesota. The release stated that Landus Cooperative will become the seventh largest grain company in North America based on overall storage capacity.
FC and West Central began the merger process in August. The proposal needed a minimum approval rating of 66.6 percent to pass, with at least 50 percent of all members from both cooperatives voting.
