Shawn Dietz wrapped up his two-year tenure as Hampton’s mayor with his final offical act Dec. 30 by swearing in new Mayor Brook Boehmler and two councilmen.

Boehmler, along with councilmen Dick Lukensmeyer and Jay Hickman, recited their oaths of office at Hampton City Hall with a few spectators in attendance. Incumbent Councilman Jim Davies, who was also scheduled to take his oath, was unable to attend the ceremony after he got stranded out of town because of poor weather.

"We've got a great group on the council and a great staff here in Hampton," Boehmler said following the ceremony. "I'm looking forward to working with them and promoting the community in a positive light."
