Following a week of speculation, plans to build a pork processing facility near Mason City have been officially announced.
Prestage Foods of Iowa formally announced the project on March 21, declaring their intentions to build a $240 million plant that will employ up to 1,000 people.
“We are excited to take the next logical step in vertical integration by building a new, high tech pork plant in Mason City,” said Prestage DVM Ron Prestage in a press release. “We see this as an opportunity to secure the future of our family business, its employees and our contract growers.”
