Making up for lost time: Weaver earns medal in 1,500

DES MOINES – Maybe it was inspiration from her teammates, maybe it was making up for her 3,000-meter run disappointment, whatever it was, Kenna Weaver of West Fork ran to a third-place finish in a personal-best time in the Class 1A 1,500 on Saturday, May 19.
The West Fork junior had some trouble down the stretch in the heat of the 3,000 but only got faster to pass AGWSR’s Aubrie Fisher who had finished ahead of her in both races last year and in this year’s 3,000.
“This is definitely a big makeup, a big comeback,” Weaver said of her Saturday race. “Almost the whole last lap, really, Aubrie (Fisher) really pushed me and that’s always a fun race..."
