Local man’s ring still missing in Mason City

A flood of regional media attention has hit one Hampton couple recently, but the pair is quick to point out it’s for all the wrong reasons.

     The story of Alvin Andersen’s lost wedding ring was featured in newspapers and on TV stations from Mason City to Waterloo last week. The ring slipped off Alvin’s hand when he was shopping in Mason City with his wife Maurine three weeks ago, but he’s been unable to track it down despite widespread media coverage.

     “I just put a little free ad in the Globe Gazette and it went nuts,” said the couple’s daughter, Kristi. “We’re waiting for Kathy Lee Gifford or the Today Show to call now.”
