Local businessman Seth Morton dies Jan. 17

Mort’s Inc. owner Seth Morton died at his home in Clear Lake last Friday due to complications with cancer. He was 55.

According to a release from Morts Inc., Morton’s daughter, Crystal Morton, will take control of the business in the wake of her father’s death. Mort’s Inc. plans to close at noon on Friday and will be closed Saturday, but they’ll be on call for customers during those hours.

Morton’s visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 24, from 4-7 p.m., at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral home in Hampton. Funeral services for Morton are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10:30 a.m., at Nazareth Lutheran Church, in Coulter. A full obituary is included inside this week’s edition of the Chronicle.
