Library wall recommendation could come Thursday

Future reconstruction plans for the Hampton Public Library’s curved brick wall remain in limbo pending a recommendation from the project’s coordinator.
Engineer Ben Wolf will provide an update on library upgrades during the Hampton City Council’s regular meeting Thursday night. Wolf has been developing a new plan for the wall, which was deemed unfixable last month after a bulge and masonry work were declared structurally unsound.
Complete reconstruction is expected to cost around $227,000.
“Everything goes back to Mr. Wolf coming in Thursday, then hopefully we can pull the trigger on the other stuff and get moving,” Mayor Brook Boehmler said during Monday night’s council workshop. “Until we know what the costs and other variables are, it’s hard to say when it’s going to get done.”
