Library seeking donations to help with building upgrades

Renovations to the east side of the Hampton Public Library are hoped to increase accessibility and improve amenities by mid-summer if all goes according to plan.

Construction of a new courtyard area, parking lot and entryway are all scheduled to begin sometime in April. According to library Director Kim Manning, the additions will expand parking space and create an outside area for guests to use the Wi-Fi Internet access or read a book. Manning said the east side entrance will also alleviate some pedestrian/vehicle traffic concerns at other areas of the library.

"This is a wonderful project for the library and historical district," she said. "This is my seventh year here, and I've always had a vision for the courtyard, and now it's finally going to happen. I'm being positive about it."
