Local motorcyclist warns of “rock-spitting demon”

Letter to the Editor:

Due to a really short riding season for us motorcyclists with a rainy season and windy days, we might be able to get a few extra days to ride in late autumn!
That little piece of reflective steel from the State of Iowa is our motor vehicle sign. Two wheels or three wheels do not make us worth less than someone driving a car. It is time that motorcycle drivers and riders command that we are treated with respect on the roads.
Is it too much to ask that every pavement repair process be evaluated in terms of every motor vehicle out there, including motorcycles?
To all people/residents either on a motorcycle or even on your bicycle riding on trails, be aware that the rock-spitting demon known as the Crafco Spray Injection Patcher is alive and well, leaving the surfaces of many area streets and highways like a game of marbles in the process.
God be with you if you hit that Crafco patch filler. It is pea-sized gravel, sometime several inches deep. Many times you are unaware that it is being applied in your area – you will find no warning signs or orange cones after it’s applied. Please take notice of a pile of Crafco Spray Injection Patcher on your local riding path to avoid an injury.
I do appreciate the City of Hampton for cleaning up the excess on the street in the area.
