Letter to the Editor

Reader grateful for a helping hand

Letter to the Editor:

I wanted to take a moment to share with your readers something I experienced this week. Something good. I met someone this week. In fact, it was someone whom your readers are familiar with. What makes this notable to me is that the person that I met has a special trait. A trait that we don’t hear about as much as we would like – this person has a servant’s heart.
Last Tuesday I needed some help on a project which I was working on, and the deadline for completion was the next day. Unfortunately, I did not have the knowledge to solve the problem and complete it. I wasn’t sure how I could proceed when someone told me to call this individual, so I did.
Now try to imagine this was Tuesday evening, dark and cold outside. This person’s phone rings and he picks it up, and there is a complete stranger on the other end of the line asking for his help. His response without skipping a beat was, “Sure, I would be glad to help.”
He told he would help as soon as he got back to Hampton. After protesting and telling him that wasn’t necessary and that I was sure he would be tired, he went on, “No, no. Not a problem. I will be there in about an hour.” And true to his word, he was there in an hour with the solution to my dilemma, and the project was completed.
Who am I talking about? The Hampton Chronicle’s very own Travis Fischer. I am glad I met him, and I am glad he is no longer a stranger. Bless your servant’s heart.
