Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,
Back in 1787 when the delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia came together to write a constitution for the new nation, it seems to me I read a very interesting article that said how much haggling and discord there was among the men as to what would be the proper laws and rules for this document that would govern the people.
After some time with no results they determined to lock themselves into the room where they were meeting (and since this was summer, probably a pretty hot and sticky place with no air conditioning or light weight clothing) and they would not leave until they had forged an agreement that all would be willing to sign their names to and that is what happened.
Let us advance now a couple of hundred years plus and look at the haggling and discord taking place in congress in both houses concerning the affordable health care of our citizens. We the people are paying mighty big salaries for our senators and representatives to go to Washington and accomplish absolutely nothing so far in solving the problem and it is a very serious problem. I think it has come time to lock the door as they did back in 1787 and tell our representatives to not come out again until they have used ALL of their best minds and talents  (doctors, accountants, whatever it takes) to get together and stop the name calling and get to work and produce a bill that is good for the people's welfare and not for their bragging rights.
Whether it be to repeal or repair, or something totally new, let’s get it done and I am sure that no one back home cares who gets the glory at all. Put the people FIRST.
