Latimer church tours local nursing homes during Lent

A local church recently wrapped up its annual Lent tour of Franklin County nursing homes with a stop at the Sheffield Care Center Sunday night.

     Members of Latimer’s Immanuel United Church of Christ visited three local care centers during the month of March and provided them with a service featuring prayer, song and communion. Pastor Lindsey Braun and congregation members traveled to Country View Nursing Facility and the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton before their Sheffield stop. This was the third year of Immanuel UCC’s Lenten journey, which has transformed into a beloved tradition for both nursing home residents and church members alike.

     “This is an opportunity for long-term care residents to really feel like they’re still part of the community,” said Braun. “It’s been a real blessing for the church.”
