Last-second 3 in OT eliminates AGWSR

PARKERSBURG – Camden Kickbush’s 25-foot three-pointer as time expired in overtime ended a thrilling 64-63 Class 1A district final at Aplington-Parkersburg on Thursday, Feb. 27.

Upstart AGWSR was on upset duty against Gladbrook-Reinbeck after forcing overtime following a steal on an inbounds pass for a score by Evan Janssen and a big-time block by Austin Heitland before time expired in regulation.

And, the Cougars had Sully Hofmeister, a 66.7 percent free throw shooter at the line with 6.4 seconds left in OT for a 1-and-1 attempt.

But a miss, a Rebel rebound and a race down the court for the winning shot resulted in the electrifying game-ender for Kickbush, who finished with a game-high 20 points.

“After the shot I just couldn’t believe it,” Kickbush said after the game...
