KLMJ to celebrate 30th anniversary on Sunday

On Sunday, Sept. 8, KLMJ, 104.9, Hampton, will be celebrating their 30th anniversary with a free community picnic at the historic Harriman-Nielsen farmstead, Highway 3 west, Hampton. The event starts at noon and will feature food, fun, games, music, and prizes, including the grand prize of a 1983 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am. The event is open to the public.

KLMJ will have a short program to recognize and honor morning announcer and music director, Mike Betten, for his 25 years on the air with the station, and his service to the Hampton community.

This summer, KLMJ has broadcast live from 105 events, including summer celebration, county fairs, car shows, and business events. At each broadcast, the station qualified one person to go into the grand prize drawing to with the Trans-Am. Qualifiers must be present to win the car and other prizes. KWGG 104.9, Hampton, started broadcasting on May 16, 1983. The call letters were changed to KLMJ in 1993.
