Killing time: Rain delay forces wait for final race

Hampton-Dumont’s Riley Flint clears the final hurdle on his way to a fourth-place finish in his heat, 15th overall in the Class 2A 110-meter high hurdles on Friday, May 18.

DES MOINES – Turns out, Patty Teggatz had an even longer wait than she thought between her Saturday races at the State Track & Field meet in Des Moines.

The Hampton-Dumont senior ran to a ninth-place finish Saturday morning in the 800, running to second in the first of two sections of that race and just missing a medal.

She thought she was to run again in four hours’ time, however, a storm blew in and delayed everything by two hours.

What did she do with the extra time?
