Karsjens, Meinders use Drake Relays to prepare for Class 1A state field

DES MOINES – Both AGWSR throwers Nathan Karsjens and Caleb Meinders will use the Drake Relays experience to propel each of them toward 1A throwing state titles.
Only the top 24 throwers state-wide competed at the prestigious 108th Drake Relays and it was a mixed result for the Cougar duo.
Karsjens reached the discus finals on Friday, April 28 via tie for the ninth-best effort in the event in continuous deteriorating conditions as a light rain turned into a downpour as the day progressed.
He had the first throw of the first flight, but Karsjens also knew he started with the driest the ring was going to be all day.
