God called Jeanette Freie home to eternal rest on Sunday, October 5, 2025. She spent the day with family and friends, enjoying a special message by Pastor Peter Wagner. Jeanette met her Lord that evening.
Jeanette was born on September 17, 1933, to her parents Peter M. and Hannah Davidsen at the Lutheran Hospital in Hampton, Iowa.
She attended school in Latimer and graduated from Franklin Consolidated High School where she actively participated in band and basketball. Jeanette was an exceptional student academically.
For a time, Jeanette worked for Dr. Wirtz in Latimer as a dental assistant.
On December 16, 1951, she married Glenn Freie at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. They began farming and were blessed with four children, Keith (Nancy), Curtis (Shellie), Sharon, and Carol (Kevin Borcherding).
Jeanette loved the farm, especially gardening and preserving the bounty God helped her produce. She also helped with the poultry and swine operation each day.
Her baking skill, especially home-made bread, was well known. She also sewed, knitted, and made clothing for her children and grandchildren. She was very supportive of her family as they participated in church, sports, and 4-H. Jeanette loved her Lord, and was active in the church her entire life.
LWML, especially the serving committee for funerals, meant a great deal to her. Setting a Christian example for 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren meant much to her.
She loved her family, and they loved her. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn, her daughter Carol, and a younger brother Robert in his youth.
She is survived by her children and spouses, a son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanette is also survived by a sister, Elna Meyer, sister-in-law Evonne Plagge, as well as many nieces and nephews.
