CAL High School receives “Acceptable Ranking, highlighted by “proficiency” and “Closing the Gap” increases

The Hampton Chronicle will be publishing the school report cards from all three Hampton-Dumont schools and from all grade sections of the CAL school. This is the second of a six part series that examines the highlights of the scores, with commentary from education officials.

CAL High School earned the ranking “Acceptable,” with an overall score of 63.7 points, which is up from the 2015 rank of “Needs Improvement,” and a score of 59.4 points.
As reported in last week’s issue of The Chronicle, this year’s score criteria differ from that in 2015, with the inclusion of the closing the gap in relation to school population and state averages. In comparison, most of CAL High School’s scores have remained the same or within the same scoring percentage over the last two years, with the exception of “Closing the Gap.”
As shown in the graphic, the criterion for which each school is graded on is weighted, with proficiency being the highest at approximately 22 percent.
