IGHSAU changes girls’ cross country races from 4K to 5K

HAMPTON – When the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Board of Directors unanimously voted to increase the distance from 4,000 meters to 5,000 meters at its Wednesday, Jan. 7 meeting, not much will change when it starts in 2015.

At least that is what Hampton-Dumont cross country coach Steve Huling says.

“I think the majority of the girls will adjust to it very quickly,” Huling said....
