High corn yields exceed expectations throughout region

A long stretch of excellent fall weather has area farmers eyeing the finish line of this year’s harvest season in Franklin County.
     Local grain elevators reported last Friday that between 50-60 percent of all corn was harvested throughout the region. Nearly all soybean fields were cleared earlier this month, and ag officials expected harvest to wrap up within the next two weeks if conditions hold.
     “I’m not even sure how much corn is out right now because it changes so much from day to day,” said Tanner Bohman, crop specialist at AgVantage FS. “It’s been really busy out there all month.”
